Our Story
2018
PedEssence Launches
We have come a long way since producing our first home made product for women for all skin types in Accra-Ghana. We are a family business and the entire family participated in making this brand alive today. I can remember as young girl coming home from school and helping my mom and grandma in treating family and friends with acne pimples problems and other skin conditions in our neighbourhood. My grandma especially instilled in us at a very early age how important it was to treat people with kindness and respect and loved making people feel beautiful and walk out with a smile and gratitude.
2019
Made first Sample - Pedessence 100% Organic Products
I’ve been in love with nature ever since I can remember. My grandma and mom were obsessed with good skin and great essential oils and thankfully they passed down their passion to me.
I discovered Argan and Kojic oil during my modeling days, and I discovered Moringa as an adult on a trip to Europe‐Italy. I’ve used so many products, I’ve tried everything! And I couldn’t find a product that had my favorite skin routine all in one company.
After I lost my mom suddenly I started having severe acne pimples due to stress which basically refused to clear after the application of several different facial creams from different sources yet it never worked, then I remembered my grandma and mom’s recipe for treating people when I was growing up.
So I had to resort to it and it worked like magic. So I said to myself, ‘Why compromise? Why not have the best in a one-stop-shop?’
I then started to focus on organic and pure plant extract products that will protect my skin from aging and wrinkles.
Products that will keep my glow for as long as I live without side effects focusing only on the best possible natural ingredients.
That was how I was inspired to offer it as a more premium beauty collection for people with the same condition as me. I discussed with a few specialists and producers in the cosmetics industry to develop the first line of skincare for treating acne, I registered and presented our first sampled product to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), and after several laboratory testing we got the approval for our first Organic Snails Day & Night Repair and Restore Face Cream, Radiant Body Beautifying Lotion, and 24K Rose Gold Body Milk, we started selling these new products and everyone loved them, and it was clear this was going to be a success, and this is how PedEssence began. Our inspiration came from the fact, that there were few organic products on the market that were genuinely treating and solving acne and other skin conditions, especially for women in beauty. There were, however skincare products that were being marketed that were dangerous to use full of so many hydroquinone and other dangerous ingredients. There was a disconnect between what the market wanted versus what was safe for their body. PedEssence identified this and bridged the gap and created skincare products that were results driven but safe to use.

I also have stubborn skin, black spots and bad break-out that I have to deal with over the years, so all my products needed to be 100% safe for every skin condition and colour. And of course, anyone that knows me knows how much I love animals, so it was very important to me that all of my products are cruelty-free.

Our formulas are designed to address the many ethnic skin concerns among men and women with a darker and light complexion, without the use of harsh chemicals. PedEssence is a premium skincare line that provides luxurious products that consider all skin types. Our products contain high-quality botanical ingredients that work to dramatically improve the individuals we are striving for overall skin health. Organic Snail Day & Night Repair and Restore Face Cream, 24K Rose Gold Body Milk and Radiant Body Beautifying Lotion are PedEssence’s patented formulas curated by our laboratories. It consists of kojic acid, mulberry extract, licorice root extract, and vitamins to prevent melanin and hyperpigmentation in a natural way without any harmful side effects. These are completely natural and are treated with nontoxic solvents like water and ethanol. These products come from the root of the white mulberry tree. The white mulberry tree grows in many parts of the world but is predominately found in Africa, Asia, and Europe. It is the only possible food for silkworms, and it used as fodder for animals.
In ancient Asia moms and medics would use the bark (of the tree (called “Sang Bai Pi” in China and “Sohakui” in Japan) to fight hypertension, edema, and cough. How it works: They inhibit an enzyme called Tyrosinase. Tyrosinase (an amino acid) is an essential factor in the production of melanin. Tyrosinase catalyzes different steps between the substrate and melanin. When Tyrosinase is less active, the production of melanin decreases. (Melanin is the pigment in the skin which produces the dark color and also protects the skin.)
